On Sunday, Congress leader Abhay Dubey accused the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar of acting against the interests of farmers, claiming it is depriving them of their livelihood opportunities.
During a press conference held at the Congress state headquarters in Sadakat Ashram, Dubey stated, “Farmers are providing food for the nation through their hard work and determination, yet both the central and state NDA governments are stripping away their chances for a sustainable livelihood... they are working against the interests of farmers.”
Referring to the recent decision by the central government to increase the minimum support price (MSP) for six rabi crops for the 2026-27 marketing season, the Congress leader asserted that the Nitish Kumar administration failed to assess and analyze production costs. He noted that the central government collects this data from state governments before determining the MSP.
Dubey further claimed, “Private companies are making substantial profits under the guise of the Prime Minister's Crop Insurance Scheme.” He also mentioned that Bihar has not received “a single rupee” from the ‘PM KUSUM Scheme’ initiated in 2019 over the past five years.
